Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral see a speech pathologist?

  • No you do not need a referral to see us. If you have any concerns about your child's development, please contact us! We know and believe that early intervention is key!

How long are sessions?

  • Our sessions are based on a 45-50 minute face to face interval with a 20 minute non-direct planning time (Total = 70 minutes)
  • At home visits and school visits, we aim to finish at the 45 minute mark so that we are able to provide home practice and wrap up with family and touch base with teachers.
  • Please note that our session starts once the practitioner arrives at the school (including check in office time, finding the client etc.)

What do sessions look like?

  • Our sessions can vary depending on each child. We like to individualise our sessions
  • Sessions may look like 'play' however all our practitioners take a child-lead approach whilst embedding our goals in a meaningful way for our clients.

How do you measure progress?

  • Our therapist write clinical notes during and/or after sessions. This can look like qualitative data or quantitative data. We prefer to check in every session or every few months to see if the goals are still appropriate or if we need to change any goals to suit the child's current capacity and presentation. As part of our service, notes will also be sent to families after session so that you can refer back to them when needed.

Fees

As we are a private practice, please contact us in regards to fees

We currently accept the following:

1. Private

2. NDIS Self and Plan Managed

  • Please note we do not accept NDIA-managed participants. If you wish to change your funding arrangement, please contact your Local Area Coordinator.

3. Medicare

  • The Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP) is a Medicare initiative available for children and adults with chronic care needs. This plan provides Medicare rebates for up to 5 sessions of allied health therapy, including speech pathology, each calendar year. These sessions can be used entirely for speech pathology or shared with other allied health services, such as audiology (for hearing tests) and occupational therapy. Please note there will still be an out of pocket fee on services. To find out if your child is eligible for this rebate, please consult your GP. We will then require a copy of your care plan before the first session that you wish to claim.

4. Private Health Insurance

  • If you have Private Health Insurance with “extras,” you may be eligible to claim a rebate for speech pathology sessions. Coverage details vary by provider and plan, so we recommend contacting your provider directly for information. For reference, the private health codes are: Initial session: item number 320 and Ongoing therapy session: item number 350
